Data Cabling PDF Print E-mail

At the heart of every IT system is the data cabling infrastructure, the nuts and bolts that hold the whole system together. Without a good quality data cabling system data will be transmitted slower, information can be corrupted or lost and, in the very worst cases, systems will simply fail to run.

Modern IT systems transmit data at up to 10Gigabits per second (10 billion bits per second). These very high data transmission rates demand very high performance cabling systems with bandwidths of more than 250 MHz. However, not everyone needs the highest performance on offer. Tekno Solutions tailors data cabling solutions to meet the customer's data cabling requirements, especially those of cat 5e cabling and cat6 cabling.

• Cat 5e UTP/FTP/STP Cabling
• Cat 6 UTP/STP Cabling
• Cat 6A UTP/STP
• Cat 7 STP
• Coax Cabling

We can install data cabling solutions ranging in size from 1 to 10,000 outlets and have experience in a wide variety of different environments including Schools, Offices, Shops and Financial Institutions.

Copper data cabling outlets can be presented in floor boxes, dado trunking, skirting trunking or surface mounted back boxes. A wide range of different faceplate styles are available to meet your functional and/or decorative requirements. Patch panels can be modular or PCB, depending on the solution specified, and is typically 24 ports in 1U, although other configurations are available. All installations of cat 5e cabling and cat 6 cabling are tested using a Fluke tester to ensure compliance with the relevant standards and test results are included with the handover documentation.

Tekno Solutions places a high priority on delivering the best and most cost effective solution to meet your data cabling infrastructure needs.

Fibre Optics
As cabling systems become larger and the need to transmit data at ever increasing rates becomes greater the case for fibre optic cabling becomes more relevant. Whether it is used in the vertical backbone or to link buildings across a campus, fibre optic cabling offers the modern, cost-effective solution.

Over recent years there have been a number of developments in fibre optic cables and connectivity. No longer do we simply specify Singlemode or Multimode cable, ST or SC connectors. Now we must consider the applications that are to run over the cabling, the distance that they are to be transmitted, the environment that the cables are to run through and the equipment that they are to interface with. In designing the optimum solution to meet your requirements Tekno Solutions will consider all of these factors before proposing a specification that will exceed both your performance and fiscal demands.

• Multimode cables (OM1, OM2 and OM3)
• Singlemode cables (OS1 and OS2)
• Tight Buffered and Loose Tube constructions
• Internal, External and Universal sheath options
• Rodent Resistant and Steel Wire Armoured cables for harsh environments
• Blown Fibre Solutions
• Fibre To The Desk (FTTD)
• ST, SC, MT-RJ, LC, LSH (E2000) terminations

Tekno Solutions have the capability to carry out on-site terminations using fusion splicing or a variety of direct termination techniques (hot melt, cold cure, crimp, etc.). Testing can be carried out using Power Light Meters or Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs) and test results are provided as part of the handover documentation.

Tekno Solutions place a high priority on delivering the best and most cost effective solution to meet your infrastructure needs.

So, whatever your cabling requirements, Tekno Solutions has the capability to offer the highest levels of performance, quality and support, all at a cost effective price.

What Is Cat 5?

Definition: CAT5 is an Ethernet cable standard defined by the Electronic Industries Association and Telecommunications Industry Association (commonly known as EIA/TIA). CAT5 is the 5th generation of twisted pair Ethernet cabling and the most popular of all twisted pair cables in use today.

CAT5 cable contains four pairs of copper wire. CAT5 supports Fast (100 Mbps) Ethernet and comparable alternatives such as ATM. As with all other types of twisted pair EIA/TIA cabling, CAT5 cable runs are limited to a maximum recommended run rate of 100m (328 feet).
Although CAT5 cable usually contains four pairs of copper wire, Fast Ethernet communications only utilize two pairs. A new specification for CAT5 cable, CAT5 enhanced (CAT5e), supports short-run Gigabit Ethernet (1000 Mbps) networking by utilizing all four wire pairs and is backward-compatible with ordinary CAT5.
Twisted pair cable like CAT5 comes in two main varieties, solid and stranded. Solid CAT5 cable supports longer runs and works best in fixed wiring configurations like office buildings. Stranded CAT5 cable, on the other hand, is more pliable and better suited for shorter-distance, movable cabling such as on-the-fly "patch" cabling.
Though newer cable technologies like CAT6 and CAT7 are being developed, CAT5 cable remains the popular choice, because it is both affordable and plenty fast enough for today's LANs.
Also Known As: Category 5

What is Cat 6?

Definition: CAT6 is an Ethernet cable standard defined by the Electronic Industries Association and Telecommunications Industry Association (commonly known as EIA/TIA). CAT6 is the 6th generation of twisted pair Ethernet cabling.

CAT6 cable contains four pairs of copper wire and unlike CAT5, utilizes all four pairs. CAT6 supports Gigabit (1000 Mbps) Ethernet and supports communications at more than twice the speed of CAT5e, the other popular standard for Gigabit Ethernet cabling.
As with all other types of twisted pair EIA/TIA cabling, CAT6 cable runs are limited to a maximum recommended run rate of 100m (328 feet).
Twisted pair cable like CAT6 comes in two main varieties, solid and stranded. Solid CAT6 cable supports longer runs and works best in fixed wiring configurations like office buildings. Stranded CAT6 cable, on the other hand, is more pliable and better suited for shorter-distance, movable cabling such as "patch" cables.
CAT6 comes at a significantly higher price tag than CAT5 or CAT5e, and today's applications simply can't take advantage of CAT6's better performance. However, if wiring a home or building for the long term, one may still consider using CAT6.
